Tensions have been high in Greece for the last month and a half after the police shooting of a 15 year old teenager sparked mass protests and riots throughout the country. More such riots occurred in the capital of Athens just last week during which a young police officer was shot and seriously wounded by unknown gunmen. Today, the militant left wing movement Revolutionary Struggle based in Greece has claimed responsibility for the shooting. As yet, the news lines have remained quiet regarding any response from the Greek government or any local populous. Judging by the current situation, I don’t think that there will be a terribly overt response from the government especially in the wake of the more recent rioting and protests in Athens.
