Possible Cease Fire In Gaza… It Comes To Late For Far To Many

Gaza cease fire coverage: McClatchy, Al Jazeera English, MSNBC

Israel has declared a cease fire over the current battle over the shattered piece of land we know as Gaza. Unfortunately for many, before the declaration, Israeli shells again hit another U.N. refugee compound killing two young boys and maiming numerous others. Hamas has not accepted any terms and appears determined to fight on despite the damage and devastation that has already been wrought in their desperate almost hopeless struggle against a far superior foe.
I would not say that Israel does not have a right to defend itself in such situations but they are culpable for the hundreds of innocent lives that have been lost and forever damaged in this struggle. Hamas is equally culpable for the innocents lost… another way must be found… over 300 children have died.

These children had no stake in this battle… they knew neither the demands of Hamas nor the reasons of Israel and yet still… these precious lights of humanity’s future were extinguished. In a world where the powerful struggle against each other daily, the stories of the weak and the defenseless get easily forgotten… I can only hope that those in charge on both sides of this conflict see the toll that the children have paid for their vanity… I fear that they will not though. If you are in a position to influence those in power do so… and save the children.

The children’s stories: Al Jazeera English, MSNBC, Newsweek

  1. Israel unilaterally declared a ceasefire yesterday. Of course it quickly vanished when Hamas fired five rockets into Israel. Hamas does not want to cease fire unless it is on their therms. They are concerned about looking defeated in the eyes of the Arab world. In truth, they have been defeated from a military standpoint. The vanishing Israeli cease fire

  2. No force in the Middle East really stands much of a chance against Israel one on one except perhaps Iran and that’s only due to a severe numerical superiority. Yet Hamas continues to fight for their varied reasons as does Israel each knowing the outcome… the leaders of Hamas wanting to be martyrs so as to draw more to their cause… the Israeli forces hoping to dissuade others from doing that same exact thing though a massive show of force. I don’t really care what the reasons are behind the leadership of either side… I only care about those caught in the middle… the innocent people on both sides just trying to make it to tomorrow.
