This year marked the inauguration of the western worlds first president of African decent, Barack Obama. In another historic move, the troubled country of Iceland elected its first openly gay Prime Minister. What does this do for our gay friends here in the U.S.? Unfortunately probably not a whole heck of a lot.
Iceland while it has been in the news recently isnt exactly indicative of major trends in social behavior. Still it is a step in the right direction nonetheless. All we need to do now is point out to the extreme right that no… in fact when we do treat our gay brothers and sisters as people the world does not in fact come to an end. It may be sometime before the United States has an openly gay president but at least we can let them all get married right?
